History of Brisbane Sikh Temple

The Sikh Sangat has been living in Brisbane for well over fifty years. Regular religious congregations have been organised since 1981.

  1. 1981 Camp Hill

    The first gatherings

    Sikh families began gathering at the Camp Hill School of Arts, and the congregation started to be organised.

  2. 1982 Woolloongabba

    A monthly congregation

    From 1982, a monthly congregation was held in a rented hall of the Blind Welfare Association in Woolloongabba.

    Second Sunday of every month
    1. Families brought langar from home, and Karah Parshad was prepared at the venue.
    2. Parkash of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
    3. Japji Sahib was recited.
    4. Ardas was offered.
    5. The sangat was served langar.
  3. 1988 Vaisakhi

    Land and a foundation stone

    The process to buy land for the Gurdwara Sahib began in 1988. The foundation stone was laid by the Panj Pyare on Vaisakhi day.

  4. Dec 1988 2679 Logan Road

    A permanent home

    In December 1988, the sangat moved into the fully constructed Gurdwara at 2679 Logan Road, Eight Mile Plains — where it remains today.

Open seven days a week, serving the Sikh community of South East Queensland.
